Felt tip on wooden door

DD decided to have a go at decorating. Brown felt tip on white painted wooden door - tried so-called magic sponge and it's not budging.

Any suggestions other than painting over it?

Cif?

I tend to use hand sanitiser to remove pen marks from desks etc if a pupil has a bust pen incident. Even works on sharpies when I want to change my classroom number on resources.

@FluffytheGoldfish thanks - wouldn't have thought of that. Do you just squirt some hand sanitizer onto a dry cloth and rub?

Basically the alcohol in the hand sanitiser reacts with the ink. So I usually put it on directly but better with a cloth as you are on a vertical surface. Be careful, use the cloth and put it on a bit of the mark (make sure you use a fair bit), leave for a few seconds and hopefully you will see the ink kind of dissolve. Use a dry cloth to clean it off, and I mean try and wipe off the door rather than across the door so you don't smear it further.
Hopefully that will work but you may need to do it more than once depending on colour etc. I would try with a small bit first to make sure the paint on the door is ok with it.
Good luck

Thank you!

Toothbrush works wonders for this. My DD felt tipped on my brand new wooded dining room table, and toothpaste got it all right out. It's saved me a few times over the years!

Pink stuff works wonders on all sorts for me

So do you literally just put some toothpaste on a toothbrush and give it a scrub?

There was a fix for this on that Stacey Solomon programme recently, I think the chap used hairspray.

Apparently drawing over the permanent marker with a dry-erase marker works? No idea how though. Only heard it yesterday so may be an internet myth!

I usually put a blob of toothpaste onto a cloth and buff it on. I'm sure a soft toothbrush would also work.

That definitely works on whiteboards. I have regularly used that technique successfully.
