Please recommend me a vacuum cleaner.

My trusty Vax is now emitting a ear splitting noise so I need a new vacuum cleaner. But there's too much choice!

Grateful for any recommendations. Need really good suction for both carpets and hard floors as I don't hoover every day and my hair gets everywhere. Can't be too heavy as I have a bad back.

Thanks!

Miele is always great. I've had mine for years and am very happy with it.

As a cleaner/housekeeper I've met a lot of vacuum cleaners and would always choose a Miele.

I came on to say Miele. Ive dumped my shark and dyson. Not a patch on the miele
I have long hair that gets everywhere, plus a ginger cat and a white dog. Miele deals with it all

Miele is the best. And it’s even better when it’s the cleaner that uses it.

The cleaners always want Mieles so I trust their judgment.

Thank you! Just had a peek - are you using corded or cordless? I'm used to an upright, do you have to stoop to use the corded ones!?

I'm a private housekeeper and have the choice between a cordless Dyson stick hoover (good suction, battery life is rubbish but it's not too heavy) a henry (best suction, but it annoys me by getting caught on stuff!) and a shark upright (heavier and corded but fantastic suction and you don't have to empty it every five minutes!)

Also here to say Miele. I have a C2 pet hair vacuum, with cord & bag. Its current life span is 10+ years. You can get non-brand bags from Amazon for <£20. The box lasts me a year, usually.

Due to an over zealous teenager somewhat knackering the on/off switch, we will be buying another one in a couple of months. We will go for the C3 Pet version, probably.

I should mention that even with the dodgy switch, it still works fine, but the kids use it as an excuse to avoid hoovering 😁

I'd definitely recommend the corded. Im 5ft 7 and i dont have to stoop when using it.
All the cordless i have used have been a pain in the neck
