washer hoovers - any recommendations?

My lovely DH let me choose our fab new carpets when I was 7mo pg - lovely cream throughout the house .

So now that DS is 1yo, with 2 cats and a DH who spills drinks red wine, am looking for a good washer hoover. Be grateful for any recommendations as really don't know where to start. Happy to spend between £100-£200 on a decent model. TIA.

i have a dedicated carpet cleaner a bissel rather than a 2 in 1. definitely get a rotating brushbar on the washer side. have had cleaners without and with and the difference is immeasurable.

I've got a vax rapide xl and it's fantastic

thanks very much both, will google them now and have a look! yes, we do have a normal vaccum, so I'm looking for just a washer in this one. thanks for replying.

Vax Agility from John Lewis is £199 and has spin scrub instead of brush bar so is gentler on the carpets but more efficient at getting the dirt out. Plus it is heated, as real bonus, and can be used as a wet vac to suck up spills etc. 6 year guarantee, which is pretty excellent. I have one and its FAB. Also have cream berber loop carpets - it works a treat.

Bissels are fantastic but not a hoover. You can pick up a decient one for less than £100, comes with some cleaning stuff. Mine's a godsend.

I bought a vax upright carpet cleaner last week from argos (they have several on offer at the mo) It is fab. CLeaned my dining room carpet which had been dirtied when I had my extension done. FUll of mud and brick dust. Came up a treat! Wouldn't bother buying the AA cleaning fluid though. It's 10 a litre and the 1001 fluid is only £3.50 and does exactly the same job.
