My duvet keeps knotting up in the tumble dryer

I've just gone to empty the dryer and it's happened again, a duvet has tied itself in a big knot and it's still damp in the middle. I tried to unknot it for ages but ended up giving up as I managed to hurt my finger.

What can I do to stop this? I already do the buttons up before washing. It was just a duvet and pillowcases so it wasn't overloaded. A quick google suggested some American gadget called 'Wad-Free' but they cost £25 and the reviews are mixed!

I think you just have to pause the cycle every half hour or so to detangle it and resume. It will dry quicker if it’s not allowed to bundle itself up in knots

Oh what a pain. I don't want to have to go to the tumble dryer every half hour but I suppose I will have to then. I think the material doesn't help, it's a fleecey soft cover that always knots up, whereas my more silky smooth cover doesn't do it.

Roll on summer and line drying!

I always add tennis ball, never had an issue when drying duvet

I have tennis balls, I can try that!

I dry the duvet cover on its own and that helps, even though they say to dry large and small items mixed. Maybe it is worse because of the fleece fabric.

do the buttons up before you put it in!
