What to do about cluster flies??

We moved to a new home last September. There is a "boot room" off the kitchen, and in the warm September weather it would fill up with small flies, every day. We sprayed, used a fogging product, and kept cleaning....they diminished quite a bit and disappeared when it got cold.

Now it's warmer again we found about 10 out there yesterday.

Having dug around on the internet we think they are cluster flies. None of the pest control companies we've contacted have got back to us.
Have any of you successfully got rid of cluster flies?
They are really beginning to bother me...we want to convert the boot room to a walk in pantry too! Obviously not until this is fixed. They are grim little things.

Sorry not to be helpful, but I’m struggling with these too. I’m hoping someone wise answers your question. It’s the worst year ever for us and there are hundreds of the grim little things!

I read that you need to treat the outside of windows/ gaps with crawling insect spray. I’ve got ten bottles of the stuff, but not really sure what to do with them. We’ve got old, draughty sash windows and they’re listed (2*) so can’t replace.

Fly spray and fogging stuff really only seems to work for a day <bangs head against wall>

@cathyandclaire - not just us then...sorry to hear you are plagued too. They are horrid little things.

I'll come back and let you know if we get anywhere trying to see them off.
(BTW, massive nostalgia rush from your user name 😁)

We had some living in the loft over the winter months. We call them zombie flies as they're in a zombie state and on a complete go slow. If we go up there they slowly wake up!

We got some of these bombs which completely killed them off and they haven't returned.

Interesting, I used those but only once in each room and they came back. Did you have a more concerted attack? I'll do anything!

Ahh I suppose there's still time for them to return to us but it's been three or so months now. The reviews aren't actually great for those particular ones but like I say, worked very well for us.

I did go a bit mad with fly spray too beforehand so that could have done something extra!
