Recommend a good mat for on carpet under an office chair

Had new carpet fitted today (previous flooring was laminate) and my desk chair isn't rolling well, plus it's leaving big dents. I need a mat, but online reviews are mixed. Any recommendations?

The carpet is wool, and standard pile.

Sorry, the recommendations I came onto the thread with won't work for your OP situation

I got an indoor/outdoor rug from La redoute which seems to work well

Always good to have that type of info in your back pocket. Grin

Really? Doesn't it ruckle up, and does it protect the carpet from denting?

We have what looks like that ikea mat - hard plastic, not a roll-up one.

ReturnOfFatBack · 15/02/2024 15:50

The reviews for the Ikea one aren't great for on carpet (or anything thicker than a flat weave mat) I'm afraid.

I think something like this would be ideal. Wipe clean, cushioned but foldable so you can pop it under your desk...

I’ve got this one. Not cheap but very protective.

I have the IKEA one linked above and it is really thick and is excellent. Why don’t you go to IKEA and see what you think for yourself? I’m delighted with mine

SmartiesParty · 15/02/2024 17:46

I also have this on carpet. It works really well and the carpet is thick and plushy

JobMatch3000 · 15/02/2024 20:46

Another vote for the IKEA one. It's thick and doesn't move.

I've gone for the Ikea one, couldn't quite justify the price of the Amazon one, plus the Ikea one is a slightly better size for my set up. Fingers crossed it holds up! Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
