Induction hob noisy

have just bought a rangemaster oven with an induction hob. When I switch on the hob the internal fan (I think that's what it is!?) comes on and stays on during cooking and after. It's a similar level of noise to an extractor fan on medium/ high. Is this noise normal for an induction hob and is the internal fan (if that is what's causing the noise) meant to be noisy?

I've moved from gas and now thinking that was a mistake.....

I see what you mean now. I have an induction hob and it doesn't have a fan, I mean there is an extractor hood that has the usual noise. But unless I put the hob on boost (if I do, it kind of pulses) I can't really hear it. Just a little hum maybe. But my hob is a separate hob not affiliated with my oven at all. So have no advice on the range master particularly - hopefully someone else will have one and be able to help! Good luck 🤞🏻

Like the PP I don't have a range master but have had my NEF induction hob for 17 years - it's silent apart from a slight hum which you have to strain to hear. However, if we use all five rings on full a fan does kick in but it's really quiet, nothing like our extraction fan. The underside if an induction hob can get quite warm so I wonder if your fan is extra powerful because it's a whole oven hob unit?

I love induction! We were early adopters of the technology and won't go back to a gas hob ever again!

My induction hob is silent. I still have my old extractor fan over it which I can choose to put on or not.

Okay so I'm thinking there is something up with the fan. I have read reviews and there is one saying the oven is noisy. No other reviews mention noise.

I had the engineer out today and he said there is no fault and that all induction hobs have a cooling fan to cool the electrics whilst cooking. Can you hear the fan whilst cooking?
