Washing machine confusion. Am I being really dim here?

I've just put some towels in on a 60° wash. I usually just bung them in on the mixed fabric setting which is 40° (use that for most things).

I've used the same mixed fabric programme but changed the temperature to 60°. Cycle time at 40° is usually about an hour and a half but it's saying that this 60° wash will only take 41 minutes.

That sounds wrong to me that a hotter wash would take half the time.

Am I being really stupid here or is that what washers 'do'? I've looked through the manual but not found anything helpful. It's an LG thinq washer dryer.

Does it weigh the load? It will either adjust the time as it goes, or perhaps your load is lighter than usual.

Thank you @hedgehoglurker. It does weigh the load but if anything it's slightly heavier this time as there are 2 extra hand towels in.

It does seem to have been sitting on 36 minutes for a while so it must adjust as it goes.

Thank you, I thought I'd done something wrong.
