how can i soften new bedsheets?

ive just bought some lovely new linda barker bedsheets and the pillow cases are as rough as a bleeding brilo pad!
how can i soften them?

wash them with fabric softener?

ive done that and they are still rough and scratchy!

put them in tumble drier??

boil wash, fabric softener(more than usual) and hang outside if you can

i shall give that a go firefly thanks....

do not have a tumble dryer bonnie............dont like them!

I hope it works for you...might need a couple of goes.
