I got these scissors as a gift a while ago and, what with one thing and another, they’ve been quietly rusting in the shed. Are they beyond saving? How do I save them?

Rub with some pink stuff?

WD40

Screw up some tin foil and gently rub the rust off, then use some oil on the hinges and wipe over the blades with a soft cloth/kitchen roll .

Thanks, all! We turn out to have a giant bottle of cleaning vinegar so I’m soaking in that and the rust is popping off. Will scrub the remainder with tin foil and follow with some WD40. The only pink stuff I have is calamine lotion so might skip that!

I’ll report back for future googlers who always add Mumsnet as a search term for their questions.
