Does your cleaner do the "fiddly" stuff?

We have a cleaner 3 hrs a week on a Monday and she does a GREAT job on the floors and the bathroom/kitchen.

BUT she doesn't do any of the fiddly stuff, by which I mean - cobwebs on celing, light-fittings, skirting boards etc.

Both DH and I have noticed that it's getting a bit mucky in the house.

When I used to clean for my mum, I did the whole house but chose a different room each week to do from top to bottom (ie move furniture, do detailed dusting, wiping down).

Could something like this work for a cleaner? How would I help her keep track of it? - will she think I'm mad if I define "zones" à la Flylady?

Other problem is I'm not sure she wants to do anymore hours - can anyone think of a system that would work on the same hours?

Both DH and I work full-time plus have 2 DS (1 & 3) to look after, plus academic work to do in the evenings so I have to face the fact that I will never get round to doing the extra cleaning myself, it's hard enough keeping up with the washing/tidying etc.

My cleaner does all those things - and she moves the sofa etc in the sitting room every week, and does all internal windows and glass each week. She has a rotation of doing the bathrooms in depth, and the spare bedrooms just get a quick hoover unless we have had/are having guests that week. In 4 hours it splits up as follows - an hour in the kitchen/utility room, and hour downstairs dusting/cleaning/hoovering the other rooms, and an 1.15 upstairs. The other 45 minutes are usually ironing, making beds, or doing a specific thing like the fridge if she has decided that it needs doing.

If you have to do the rota, then write it down and pin on fridge or wherever.
