Mattress Protector/Topper question

If you had a mattress in a spare room which was used occasionally and were putting a mattress topper on it, would you also need a mattress protector or should I save my money?

If it is just for occassional use, go with the cheaper/ easier to wash option.
I was under the impression that toppers were expensive and can not be washed. We just have matress protectors that can be washed.

If we had an expensive topper, I would definitely add a matress protector to, that could be washed.

Aldi have reasonably priced mattress protectors in their specials in a recurring basis - and they are in next week's leaflet.

So if you had both, would you put the mattress protector over the topper?

Yes

Mattress, mattress topper then mattress protector over the whole lot and then the sheet.
Sheet & protector get washed, the other 2 don't.
Or don't have a topper if the bed is used infrequently and the mattress isn't too uncomfortable.
