I can’t decide what to do at all… so someone else tell me what they’d do please!
Long story short, we inherited a gas tumble dryer when we bought the house and didn’t expect it to last; well it has and has been very cheap
to run too. It’s vented and any other dryer we got would be too.
They’re no longer made so parts aren’t widely available and those that are are often second hand.
Last year the burner went funny but a work contact came up trumps and managed to fix it. Now the drum is playing up, not spinning without adjusting the load to a sweet spot; I could ask work contact again but would have to source the parts etc.
Probably looking at £180 for parts and labour if he can do it.
Or
Buy a new Indesit vented electric drier for £280 and accept it’s going to cost a lot more to run.
I can’t decide if I should cut my losses and buy the new electric or attempt to have the old one fixed. I fear I have sentimental attachments to the old gas one. Pretty sure my mother had one in the 80s/90s.
We can’t be without a tumble drier.
Limited drying space around the house and no linen press as such.
