Small living room - better to have one big sofa or two small ones?

Small living room, 2 adults and 2 small kids in the family. Would you prefer one 3-seater sofa and an armchair or two 2-seater sofas?

I'd prob go for a 3 seater and a chiar- cos i like to lie down on sofa when kids in bed

Personally I would go for one 3 seater and an armchair. At least you then have the option of lying on the sofa when the room is not fully occupied, and sitting in a chair is also very nice. 2 seater sofas are no good IMO.

An armchair and 2 seater is definately better!

How lovey dovey are you? Me n him spent 16 years snuggling up on the old big sofa(s) until last year and it was nice. We now have two new two seaters and we sit on separate ones..... I now have a laptop balanced on the arm of one... and I lied 10 minutes ago that I wasn't going to be 'on MN all night again'... is this cos we've been together 17 years and we're not 16 anymore? or is it that your marriage might suffer if you get a sofa thats not big enough for snugglin

two-seaters are really just big armchairs, imo. you can't get a proper snuggle on them and end off sitting on one each... a recipe for divorce.
