Cooking frozen chicken in an Airfryer

Just got a Ninja Dual Airfryer and I have always cooked frozen chicken in the oven but is it safe to do that with an Airfryer or do I need to defrost first.

I just googled because I’m slightly appalled at the idea. It comes up repeatedly saying you can cook chicken breast from frozen in the air fryer-no mention of a whole bird though.

I suppose I always defrost our chicken breasts in the microwave first because I’m generally chopping them, & that would be hard to do when frozen solid!

If it's chicken that you bought as frozen then if it says on the packaging suitable for cooking from frozen then it will be fine.

If I buy fresh chicken and freeze it I always defrost it first before cooking.

Unless it's chicken nuggets/tenders and if I'm using my oven or airfryer I defrost all chicken products overnight even if it says best cook from frozen before I cook them.

I always get a bit nervous about cooking chicken so maybe it’s better to defrost first. Is it better to defrost in the fridge overnight.

I'd look into this a bit more tbh - defrosting as a process generally wakes up the bacteria which is why many products are cook from frozen as that is the safest way to cook it.

OP - I have never defrosted meat in the refrigerator as it takes too long. Have always defrosted it on the kitchen worktop overnight then in the morning once defrosted I put it in the fridge until cooking that day.

I remember I had put a piece of chicken on the counter top was chatting to my DC and a fly flew onto it and as quick as anything laid eggs..yuk.
So now if a whole chicken or meat joint I pop inside the microwave, not on as its quite cool in there, just use it as a place to keep it away from any flies that may be around.
