For some reason all our towels have got hard and scratchy. Recently changed to a 2 in 1 detergentso not sure if this has done it. Any way to revive them??

Tumble dry them??
Or iron them with lots of steam??

Cant give you any advice on reviving them I'm afraid (but will be watching out for any tips as I've got a few like that), but I always thought that fabric conditioner wasn't great for towels so maybe your 2 in 1 is responsible.

Wash them tumble - do not use fabric softener - it stops them being absorbant!

tumble drier works a treat - you don't have to completely dry them, just 30 minutes is enough to fluff them up again and then you can line dry them or plonk them over an airer to finish them off.

Same as other posters - never use fabric softener / 2-in-1 on towels.

So - wash them again in a really good liquid detergent (eg Ariel) at 60° and make sure they are really well rinsed - you could do an extra rinse and spin cycle if you like - and then tumble them and finish them off on the airer.

I asked the same question a while back and was told to rinse them in white vinegar. I have been doing this since and it does work, probably not as well as a tumble dryer (but I don't have one so that wasn't an option for me) I buy distilled malt vinegar from asda and use about the same as I would conditioner and don't worry they don't smell.
