Leaking washing machine

My washing machine has a hole out of the seal. It happened between two washes at the weekend and no idea how. Only thing I can think of is maybe a school trouser catching on it as I took it out? But think I'd have felt it?

Anyway, it works but leaks. I'm doing washes but put a fleece blanket down outside and have a few so stick them in the wash themselves every few. We have a lot of sports clothes etc washes here...

Any ideas as to whether I could fix this without replacing the whole seal which seems environmentally unsound plus I don't have the cash for it basically.

Any ideas or is it an expensive replacement for it?

You can buy a replacement seal and do it yourself. -lots of videos online. Tricky though. I tried it but ours was an old model that had to have the drum taken out to refit it. Cost about £100 for the bloke to do it if I remember correctly.

Thank you @Alchemistress and Merry Christmas! Think my rotating towel trick will have to do until Xmas spending is far behind us 😂

We have the same problem. A lump of clear sealant fixed it for a while but now it’s leaking again. Currently using a beach towel to collect the leak because they dry fairly quickly! Ours is 8 years old, so thinking that it’s not worth the cost and hassle of replacing the seal.
