If you don't have a dishwasher

How often do you wash your dishes? There's 4 of us and there's constantly a pile of dishes next to the sink. Do you do it at the end of the day or do it throughout the day but have to constantly keep changing the water?

Do it as it as the day goes on, so if the bowl is full I do it. Dh is a once there is no room in the bowl, or on the counter and it falls in the floor, then he will do it.
so me 3 times a day, dh 1 a day.

It's a game changer - get one!

I usually do it in the evening while I'm waiting for dinner to cook. A bit daft really as there's more straight away, but I'm not the domestic goddess type and it works for me. It's only me an DD, who is out more than she's in though. When I had all the kids at home it was definitely a twice a day job.

After every meal.

I’ve never had a dishwasher and wash up at the end of every day

(but it would be something else I have to clean!) Plus my kitchen is literally 6 ft by 8ft, and has three rooms leading of it. After I’ve prioritised a washing machine, sink, a kettle and microwave, a fridge and three cupboards, there isn’t any room.

Once a day usually, I don't use a bowl, have never understood the concept. I wash and rinse under running water.

AllIsWellish · 15/12/2023 12:16

I bought a table top one last week. I'll never be without one again!

I used to wash and tidy away breakfast things and then do the same after dinner. I found it very difficult to see dirty dishes on the side when I was at home with smallDC but I realised that I could have been washing up all day and taking g time away from the DC so I stopped doing it as hoc. When we got the chance ( and money) we bought a dishwasher. It is a game changer, chiefly by being a cupboard for dirty things.

Once or twice a day. Our kitchen is perpetually full of dirty dishes but trying to do it as we go hasn't worked for us. I would love a dishwasher.
