Ds1 has scribbled all over our kitchen table today.

what is your table made of?

MuffinMclay · 14/03/2008 14:31

It is this, in a very pale colour. I know it only a cheap and cheerful table, and not a precious antique, but it looks awful.

have you tried a wash up sponge, the kind with the green scourer and lots of wash up liquid? i did this to remove felt off my coffee table, don't know if will work with biro tho

lightly sand it, with some fine sandpaper.
It'll look a bit scary for a few days but it soon darkens down with use (dirt in our house )

Try a baby wipe! They seem to get just about anything off our table!

I used hairspray before, but on a laminate top.

Try gin... My father in law used it to get pen off DS's brand new cabin bed... The pine is still dented by the pen nib, but looks much less obvious as the ink has gone. If it doesn't work, drink (some of) the rest (with an appropriate mixer of course!)

I've tried baby wipes (got rid of some of the lighter bits) and fairy liquid (did nothing).

Haven't got any hairspray or gin. Could try vodka?
Tempted to drink the stuff even if it doesn't work. So far today ds1 has also had a major meltdown in the middle of the supermarket carpark, smashed a milk bottle and thrown a carton of custard all over the kitchen.

Will try sanding as a last resort.
