Eufy battery has given up the ghost after only 2 years, what now?

I can buy a new battery for 60 quid, but that seems ridiculous given that the machine is only two years old and only gets used on average a couple of times a week.

I don't know whether to get buy a new machine (am put off Eufy now so would need to investigate other ideas), or suck up (ha) the 60 quid.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes after about 18m, and when I removed the battery it had a date on it far older than I'd had the robot (from new).
Replacement was about £20 from Amazon (not Eufy branded) and was fine.

Good to know, thanks!

I've been really unimpressed with Eufy. We had two replacements within the first year (while still under warranty). We kept one of the broken ones, it's just super loud but still works, and the battery on the replacement one died within 6 months. We are still using the super loud one. I want a new robot but I can't buy Eufy again, they are kinda crap

Yes, we’ve also had to uninstall the app and remap, which is a pain. I love having one, but I think I’d try to stump up for a Roomba next time.

Argh, got him back up and running again, but he now keeps conking out within a few minutes with no error message. According to the app the battery is at least half full.

@Chasingsquirrels would you mind pointing me to the direction of the replacement battery you bought? Everything I’m seeing is a minimum of 40 quid.

It was this one;

I paid £19.99 in Feb 2022.

How?
(Assuming you haven't had a new battery given your next post asking about the one I brought).

My Eufy is a 30C Max

Chasingsquirrels · 08/12/2023 13:46

Might not fit your model, as you mentioned having to remap - and the series mine is from is older and doesn't have mapping.

(I've since got a G30, the charge bases are the same but I haven't compared the batteries)

AngelsWithSilverWings · 08/12/2023 13:48

I thought my roomba battery needed replacing but it turned out it wasn't charging properly because the contacts needed cleaning. DH used contact cleaner and it worked fine for 6 months and then stopped again so he cleaned it up again and it's fine.

plumtreebroke · 08/12/2023 14:02

I have an ancient Roomba 500, which I hadn't used for ages so the battery had died, I got a new cheap battery on ebay which works fine (also about £20). Roombas seem to be fairly indestructible (at least the old ones) and lots of spares available.

If the noisy one was a Roomba I would clean and oil the fan shaft and bearing, quietened my Roomba down massively. A bit of a project to get to it, but lots of info on Youtube. Don't know about Eufy.

BatteryBuggered · 08/12/2023 14:21

This is all good information, thanks!

I got him going again by unplugging and replugging the docking station. That seemed to remove the battery error message. He was then able to do about 5 mins, then he packed up completely. Time waster.

We have the X8, and those batteries seem pricey.

I'll investigate contact cleaner, didn't know such a thing existed!

Thanks for that, unfortunately ours isn't in the recall batch. I'm going to try a contact cleaner and then reassess. A new battery is about £60, so obviously a lot cheaper than replacing the unit. Grr.

I have eufys, a 11s which is about 5 years old and has been great. I replaced the battery about 6 months ago. Bought it directly from eufy for £20 .
I also have a g10 hybrid which is giving me real problems, it won't always charge but when it does it runs from anything between 5 and 30 mins then just dies , doesn't go back to its dock.
I have bought it a new battery, cleaned all its sensors , tried using the 11s dock all to no avail.
I am going through a trouble shooting experiment with the help of eufy customer service but it's not looking good.

ScottBakula. Did you get this fixed at all? This is the exact issue I’m having with the g10 hybrid

ScottBakula · 23/06/2024 13:40

@Calgacus63 , no unfortunately not , the flaming thing is still sat in its box doing nowt . 😡
