Does your toilet/bathroom smell nice?

What do you use to fragrance it? I've used pot pourri, I've used the room deodorant that sprays every few minutes (annoying!) I've used various types, there's one you place in a small dish and leave it there...none of them do anything! meanwhile I've entered toilet rooms in e.g show rooms and some posh pubs and some of them smell sooooo nice. What are they using??? i look around to see if i can spot what they are used but usually can't find it. When we bought our home yrs ago, the toilet & bathrooms smelt divine! now it just smells of nothing.

I want the toilet and bathrooms to smell heavenly like roses each time the door opens so please share what you are using to create that lingering lovely smell.

Clean with a fruity Method spray and pop a nice diffuser in the room - I put one behind the toilet on the floor as I don't like it on show. I recommend the Nest ones!

Cas112 · 01/12/2023 14:58

I don't know if it smells nice.. mine smells of nothingness now to me cause I'm so used to it but I do have a fear of it smelling bad when guests come so I always put bleach in the toilet before they do so it at least smells clean😂

ExcellentFabulous · 01/12/2023 15:02

Long lasting perfumes that stay on till forever.

Fragranced toilet gel. Spray everytime I use the toilet.

Fragranced floor cleaner.

Some DIY fabric conditioner/Lenor mix.

Keeping it clean and fresh regularly, changing/washing towels, mats, curtains, etc.

Airing out/Open windows for a while everyday if possible to clear stale air.

ExcellentFabulous · 01/12/2023 15:03

Some people use fragranced candles.

I used to and it smells great. I just can't be bothered for now.

LadeOde · 01/12/2023 15:08

@PickleSmith Can you recommend a diffuser? we've nearly all the Tesco ones and currently have one from Marsden & Whittle which does absolutely f..all!

To those recommending airing and washing towels, bleaching etc we already do all of that. It's not that we're trying to get rid of bad smells, I'm looking for something to make it smell like e.g roses, lavendar all the time. I don't want a neutral smell ifyswim.

Places that 'smell nice' always seem to have good quality diffusers

mine smells neutral & im happy with that.

LadeOde · 01/12/2023 15:13

Perhaps the question i should ask is recommendations for quality diffusers because the ones I'm using don't work at all. I can smell them if i sniff them but they do nothing for the room. I thought the Marsden one was a very good quality one and would give off a strong fragrance but it's not.

The family bathroom upstairs smells like pee. I can smell it from the hallway. It makes me want to cry. I have 3 boys and a useless
husband with no sense of smell….

shellyleppard · 01/12/2023 18:08

Thepenisblue you have my sympathy. Mine is exactly the same. Why can't they just aim straight!!!!! Apparently if you cover the toilet etc in shaving foam it neutralize the smell???? Not tried it yet 🤷‍♀️😁

wited · 01/12/2023 21:02

Get a decent diffuser from TKmaxx clearance.

mondaytosunday · 01/12/2023 21:09

Ya because it smells like soap.. I have scented soap in there which I don't use, but it makes it smell sooo nice!

witchypaws · 01/12/2023 21:36

Yes finally! My bathroom seems to eat scent, anything that smells nice elsewhere doesn't do anything
I got a valentte Reed diffuser, rosemary one and it smells lovely

SausageAndEggSandwich · 01/12/2023 21:39

Skandinavisk diffusers. Often 25% discount at Sephora.

I have them all over my house 😂

What do they smell like?
I bought a White Company one based on someone's recommendation and it does fragrance the bathroom but the scent smells to me like a mixture of wet dog, damp and weed.

Shinyandnew1 · 01/12/2023 21:51

Some of the Next ones are nice-midnight patchouli and amber is lovely.

I have a few different ones. The Ro one they do is lovely - I'd describe it a fresh, light and airy smell. Refreshing. Hygge is quite sweet and fruity, it's not for everyone I don't think. But that's in one of the bathrooms as I didn't love it enough to smell all the time. Koto is quite a deep spicy smell, that's in my sitting room. It reminds me of a library. Skog is good for this time of year - piney forest. I love a good pine scent but so many smell like loo cleaner. Hav is a good sea scent, forgot about that one. The others I haven't tried but hopefully there will be some discounts at some point.

RocketIceLollie · 02/12/2023 06:11

What I find helps keep a bathroom smell nice is the method daily shower sprays. I spray down the shower screens every morning after my daily shower, more because it keeps down the need to deep clean the shower screen, but I do find the nice fragrance seems to fill the bathroom for the rest of the day. Method products are quite pricey but they are pretty much free of nasty chemicals too.

I hear your pain. I have similar. I kept cleaning and it still stank so I bought a uv torch so I could see exactly where the wee was and it was horrifying, like a crime scene!! How the wee got that high up the walls and on cabinets I'll never know but now I know where to clean it smells much better. Another shout out to a daily method mop as well.

UnimaginableWindBird · 02/12/2023 06:23

It's probably not the smell you are after, but I spray Puressential Purifying Room Spray into the corners of the room, and the smell lasts for hours. It's not a floral, hotel sort of smell, though. It is herbal and a bit mentholly, so smells very clean and a bit spa-like.

StoatofDisarray · 02/12/2023 06:34

I use one of those oil bottles with little sticks coming out (a diffuser) and it smells quite nice. The one I'm using at the moment is White Company Spa Restore, which smells of "Geranium, Neroli & Eucalyptus", or in other words, like a nice spa. It cost about £35 and I've been using it for over a year. The bottle is nearly empty (I only tip a centimetre in at a time) but it should be good until January.

LouLou198 · 02/12/2023 07:30

Valenette reed diffuser, they are amazing.

IheartNiles · 02/12/2023 08:44

White Company do an air purifying scent diffuser. You add their fragrance oils to it. It does need charging though. Their stick diffusers are good, Seychelles is nice for a bathroom or bedroom and long lasting.

Housenoob · 02/12/2023 08:49

Get the stronger scented reed diffusers eg the ones that are a bit like Oud, or woody, or amber etc. Usually the darker coloured packaging. Usually these stronger ones give me a headache but they work well in bathrooms as the fan or window being open tends to dilute them slightly. I got a basic refill from amazon and used it to fill my existing diffuser bottle, smells amazing.

LadeOde · 03/12/2023 14:08

Thanks all for these recommendations, didn't know there were more comments before. I'm definitely going to pop into White Company and maybe Net too. Can you tell me where you got your Valenatte reed diffuser's from?
