Ovo's 'Power Move' and solar panels

Ovo have been really selling this 'power move' I think its if you use less than 13.5% of your energy between 4 & 7 you get money off

We have solar panels so all washing machine and dishwasher stuff happens then, showers happen late evening so all that's on it a tv and some lighting

But I think because our usage is pretty low because of the solar panels we will never hit less than 13.5% because the sun isn't shining then so we will intrinsically use more

Am I right?

I think you will struggle.

I did it last year and saved £20 per month for five months (so got the max on offer, £100). The only way we could achieve target (12.5% last year) was to cook at lunchtime - which the majority of people can't do if they work. It was a pain but we did it. A few times, I used the tumble dryer more than I normally would have because it helped achieve the goal. This year, they've upped the target and payout is lower and we can't be bothered to do it again.

But we use an average of 5.5 kwhr this time of year so we'd need to use 0.75 for those 3 hours - I don't know if that s a small or large amount but realistically with gas heating and washing/dishwasher happening during daylight hours I think I'm stuffed

Oddly enough we also cook at lunchtime, cos, free/reduced electric you know!

Have you got battery storage with your solar? Just wondering if you could program it to run off battery primarily for those hours?

That would be cool but we couldn't afford batteries so as I work from home and DH is returned we eat at lunchtime and structure our day round the sun
