Tips on finding a good cleaner

I’ve had a cleaner for several years now which really helps me out.

A family member has cleaned for us or recent years which has worked well. She can no longer clean for us so I need to look for a cleaner again.

I used to go via a cleaning company and it was very hit and miss. We had quite a few from this company because people left for other jobs out of the cleaning business. We had one lady who was fantastic but the rest were either really unreliable (cancelling and changing days often) or just not thorough.

My thoughts are it may be better to get a cleaner where it’s their own business as if it’s your business my thoughts are you’re less likely to be unreliable or not do a good job because that’s your reputation plus if you have started a business in that then probably you enjoy it so will want to do a good job? Obviously I will have a Google but if anyone has been on same position are there any websites that are particularly good at locating self employed cleaners? Thanks a lot.

I've found that Gumtree is quite good as self employed cleaners often offer their services.

Cleaner here, go with a recommendation from a friend or colleague. I never advertise, I get customers through word of mouth. If you're going to use someone who's been recommended you might have to wait for a space.
