Upright Bagless hoovers......need some advices please

i dont have a clue about upright hoovers as ive never owned one!, but we are looking for one as our little hoover is knackered and not powerful enough to pick up the pet hairs as its 1400W. The reason for a upright hoover cos dp suffered a bad back and doesnt want to be bending over.

ive looked in the Argos book for ideas and there are a few of 2000W (and bagless) which is ideal for the pet hairs.
