I'm about to start sorting all MY filing out..........

bought myself a tidy little box filing thing...(I'm sure I don't really need the 2 drawer filing cabinet LOL).

Now - do I put the Utilities under

Gas Water Phone etc

or

Eon Anglia Virgin

etc??

And the DS's trust fund whatsits........under the bank name (all the same bank) or under "T"?

How do you organise yours? And which am I most likely to think of first if I'm looking for something?

I'd do gas, water & phone. 'cos I think Oh the phone bill... not oh the talk talk bill

ahh - but you see this is where I'm confused as I don't think "broadband, TV and phone" I think "virgin"........but I don't think "Anglia" I think "water"......

And then to confuse things more Gas and Electric are with the same company

God this confusing - no wonder I can never find anything (I found my Enhanced enclousure under "G" the other day )

i put things under what i will remember them by
(my address book is under first initial as that is how i work)
iworked in research and had millions of names numbers contacts, its the only way..for me anyhow..

for utilities here its under electricity, gas, water
solicitors under their inital though
and child tax stuff under t for tax

for ds stuff there is his box, all bank accounts funds and certificates etc

copies of certificates in several places i also do that seemed good idea at the time!

FWIW I think labelled files are more useful thank alphabetical ones - then you can label them up as you like.

So you reckon I should put things under the initial of what I call it then?

arghhh - was feeling so pleased with myself for buying this filing box thing and now I don't know where to start

Can you stick a key on the front with what you've filed things under?

bramshott, idea of a key is a good one though
