Mould magic gel

Keep seeing ads for mould magic gel and now mould magic extreme gel. Anyone actually tried these? They are more pricey that the mould sprays such as HG or Cillit bang. Gimmick or worth buying?

It's good, but the mould does come back. It promises to get rid of it forever which it didn't for me, but it did get rid of some really stubborn mould in my shower that nothing else would work on. I bought it direct from the Facebook link but later saw it cheaper on somewhere like eBay, so might be worth looking around first. It was good and I will definitely buy it again when it runs out, but it didn't quite live up to its promises!

Bitteralmond · 04/11/2023 18:28

I didn't find it that great tbh. It is basically bleach in a gel. If you are sensitive to the smell of bleach, as I am, it will be disagreeable to apply. It did get some staining off, but did not live up to the claims in my experience. To be fair they did refund me. The only advantage of it over sprays is that being a gel, it clings to vertical surfaces better.

Surprisingly it did work, so far so good. We used it a month ago and it did remove the mould

WineAndFireside · 05/11/2023 11:28

Did it remove mould from silicone sealant? I'm currently using vinegar and bicarb but it's not shifting.

Ilikewinter · 05/11/2023 11:38

Humm im not buying the hype to be honest. Whilst it removed some mould of the silicon sealant it turned most of it brown....and I reapplied and left it overnight as suggested. It did clean up some bits of the grout, but was patchy in the results. I wouldnt buy it again.

SingingSands · 05/11/2023 12:05

I bought it. It worked really well so I admit I was very impressed. Used it on silicon sealant and on grout.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 05/11/2023 12:16

I used MM on mould on bathroom mastic. Wasn't that great, just faded to mound to orange. Might try MME.

juneybean · 05/11/2023 12:33

It worked for me in the bathroom on some tough mould on both silicon and grout.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 05/11/2023 14:42

I don't like bleach, but admittedly what worked for us was bleach soaked in Colton wool/loo paper and applied to the stain for 24 hours. Tip from on here.

Just wondering if any of you have tried it on anything fabric based? It says it’s supposed to be ok but dh has discovered the backs of a couple of guitar cases in the dining room have become spotted heavily with white from mould. They don’t get used very much and we don’t go in there a lot, so we’re horrified to find the problem - not least because there are other instruments in there too.

The guitar cases are black/dark canvas, so I’m worried if there’s bleach in the formulas it might cause problems (not least because the guitar cases lean against a black velvety piano stool, so don’t want that to become mould damaged or bleach damaged! This is one of the first things I’ve come across that is supposed to deal with mould in fabric that is bleached based - which worries me!

Many thanks for any insights!

I don’t know if anyone replied and I hope you didn’t ruin the case but I got some on my t shirt and it bleached it so I wouldn’t use it on fabrics

Does anyone have any tried and tested methods for getting rid of black mould on walls? No matter what I do or what I use it just comes back, but only on external walls.

UngratefulOldCabbage · 05/04/2024 18:25

Magic mould didn't work for me. Results were patchy, and not long lasting. Got a full refund.

Yes- bacadet and halophen - this combination was advised by specialists over sprays you can in the supermarket, and worked very well treating mould on walls.

Not all that magic. I bought some a while ago, it did work quite well, getting rid of the worst of the mould on the sealant in the shower but not all of it and the mould HAS come back despite their claims that it won't. Whilst it is great that it clings to surfaces, that is also a down side as it doesn't run into grooves and gaps. I also have an issue with their advertising, they always seem to offer 1/3 off but you can't buy it at full price anyway and have never seen it for the normal price of £19.49, so isn't that false advertising? Plus it is not free delivery ☹️.
Don't believe the reviews on IG, I left a negative view and it wasn't published.

BeGoneSpoon · 22/12/2024 18:45

It works, but I cannot get it off again! If you leave it for 3+ hours, as advised, it dries like silicon and is so hard to remove. I’ve cleaned and scraped it from the (admittedly very white) grouting six times now and I’m still finding bits. It makes me nervous to put my daughter in the bath as she’ll no doubt find a glob I’ve missed… I’ve also showered down the walls but water doesn’t shift it! The instructions say ‘wipe down with a damp cloth’ to remove which is laughable 😕
