dont know if it is right but i dust first

I dust then hoover. My theory being that you unsettle the dust first, then hopefully hoover some of it up that has landed on the carpet.

Think you're supposed to hoover first because otherwise the dust just settles back onto the surfaces you've just cleaned. I never seem to manage to dust and hoover on the same day though. Hate dusting.

I dust first, then hoover. But if I was only going to do one I would hoover. I think a dirty floor is more obvious than a bit of dust on surfaces.

Vacuum first. I use the vacuum cleaner to dust the skirting boards, round the pipes etc - there isn't much dusting left to do once I've vacuumed

For my Housekeeping (or whatever it was) badge at Brownies I was taught to dust first, but only after emptying bins, making beds and de-cobwebbing the ceiling.

The idea is to start at the top of a room and work downwards.

I sometimes hoover surfaces with the soft upholstery brush
