Smelly work apron

My 17yr old DS recently got a job working as a kitchen porter/fryer cook in a local pub. He has a couple of aprons for work, and one in particular absolutely stinks of fryer grease & I can't get rid of it.
I've tried bio washing powder & white vinegar as they're my usual go to for smells/stains, but it still smells so bad! Any other suggestions????

He usually does his own washing, but asked me to help here.

Soak in salted water? Tried a boil wash and dry outside if poss.

Try laundry sanitiser in the fabric conditioner compartment

Thanks both!
@PTSDBarbiegirl I tried both cold wash and boil wash, could definitely do with more outdoor airing though. Salt water soak is definitely worth a shot.

@dementedpixie will buy laundry detergent next time I'm in Tesco, thanks for the tip.

What about spraying it with Elbow Grease, as that breaks down grease/oil. It's really cheap, about £1.

Then add a little zoflora in the conditioner compartment when washing it.

Soda crystal should help, for both soaking and washing. Or perhaps Napisan.

Thanks @FrogFairy and @Shelby1981 - I have both zoflora and soda crystals.

If it's grease, I'd dampen it, and scrub it with washing up liquid and a brush. Squirt it right on to the apron. Leave it overnight, then rinse it (to stop your washing machine getting full of bubbles!) and wash as normal.

My son works in a pub kitchen. I swapped to Daz for a change and it never got rid if the smell and my washing machine was all greasy , went back to Percil and no issues since.
