Removing whiteboard pen from white shirts

Please can someone share the best strategy for getting black whiteboard pen ink out of white school shirt cuffs.

Apparently the Dr Beckman stain devils for ink doesn't work on black ink.

DS2 is wearing the last of the hand-me-down shirts and despite a thorough summer bleaching the cuffs in particular look absolutely disgusting.

Surely someone knows the secret?! Please share!

Dr Beckmann works so long as it hasn't been washed already.

After washing nothing works.

I used to use rubbing alcohol/surgical spirit on pen marks on the kids clothes. Just lay the shirt on an old towel, put some alcohol on some cotton wool, then blot the stain with it. Then repeat with a fresh piece of cotton wool until the ink is out. GL

Nothing seems to work, I wish schools would get rid of white shirts.

I wish schools would get rid of whiteboard pens, or buy washable ones.
