Help! Can I steam clean a Made.com sofa?

Just got in from a weekend away to find our bathroom has leaked, so there's a big crack in the ceiling of the room below and the sofa underneath is soaked through!

I've found the leak and stopped it, and am now onto trying to dry things out/clean up - I have towels laid out on the carpet so waking up the water that's leaked through to them, and am doing the same as best I can with the sofa.

I've been Googling like made and I've seen recommendations to steam clean carpets and fabric sofas after leaks/flooding to kill off any mildew that starts up in the damp. Has anyone tried this? How did it go?

My sofa is Made.com so I can't look up the fabric care on it now. Has anyone had to dry out a Made.com fabric chair or sofa? Anyone ever get it steam cleaned?

Depends on the fabric type, but I'd get a dehumidifier in the room quickly. That'll help dry it out, and don't use heat.

Forgot to add that a lot of fabrics will shrink with steam so I'd test an area first like under the seat cushions and let it dry out again before doing a larger area.

Thanks, trying to locate a dehumidifier... right now I just have a fan on trying to move some air around. (Eeeek - take about coming home with a bump.)

It may be worth contacting your insurance company as they may send out professional cleaners?

Oh good point - I've got as far as taking photos of the ceiling, but hadn't done the sofa yet (too busy throwing towels at it!)
