Looking for a Decluttering Buddy

Hi there!

I feel completely overwhelmed by my house! Is this something you could say too? There is stuff everywhere. I really want to get everything tired but when I want to start going it just feels... TOO MUCH!

I would really like to set up a plan to declutter all the spaces in my house, bit by bit. Get rid of as much as I can that adds to the mess and get organized. I know it won't take one day, perhaps not even a month will be enough. I feel that if I do this with someone else it will make it easier. I would love to find a buddy or a team that can take the challenge with me. We can declutter our spaces together and share our progress and feelings.

The thought of having my house tidy and organized makes me feel calm and excited. Although, right now, I feel it is a mission impossible...

Does anyone feel the same way as I do and would like to get started with no excuses and lots of motivation?

X

I'm in. I have a house full of shit that I've been saving for projects I'm going to do 'one day'. One day is never actually going to ever arrive for various reasons and I am surrounded by stuff.

I did a boot sale as I can't stand the thought of throwing away things that are useful to someone, but I have missed the summer window. Not sure if there are winter boot sales anywhere.

One of my friends advocated a black bin liner leaving the house per day or some regular periodicity and I'm up for that.

I should add that I have 2 rented garages also full of shit that is probably rotten by now.

How do you want to proceed?

I would love to join but worried I’ll end up flakey as with a 1 year old who barely naps I struggle to do much beyond look after the DC , cooking and driving etc ! I’d definitely be up for some level of sharing the task but just might be less able than most time-wise.

so far I have read a Marie Kondo book and tried to get rid of a few things that don’t spark happiness when I see them! Even our bathroom has way too many bottles of things for example so I’m already trying to cut back on buying more than we really need.

what are your main problem areas?
mine are probably clothes, we have too many and many are not useful as we hardly have any we like wearing!! I wish I was better at keeping a decent wardrobe and want to have a clear out and replace with things I like on Vinted.

Ps my friend set goals like everyone had to find 10 items to rehome . She’s an inspiration as she’s gone from having a normal, busy family home to having a place of complete tidy peace as she’s cut back how many items they have in the home so much but still has plenty that bring joy!
