Shower screen

Really boring but how can I get my shower screen sparkly clean. I don't even live in a hard water area but whatever I try, I'm always left with bits that look smeared.

I've tried Flash spray and wipe - useless, every other product available - useless

I have exhausted everything I can think of. Is there anything else that will definitely work?

Bohle Glass cleaner?

namechangedforthisnone · 19/10/2023 21:14

A sponge scourer and some washing up liquid. I've tried everything believe me and this works!

Justmuddlingalong · 19/10/2023 21:14

A wet microfiber cloth and a bar of soap.

anybloodyname · 19/10/2023 21:18

Washing up liquid is fab
And then I use a shower squegee thingy that scrapes all the water down

embolass · 19/10/2023 21:29

Defo washing up liquid and splash of white vinegar, squeegee off , gleams and no smears

RaraRachael · 19/10/2023 21:51

Great ideas thanks

@embolass how do you apply it? With a cloth or mixed up in a spray bottle

Brillo soap pads

addison4 · 19/10/2023 21:54

Spray with white vinegar after every use. Then once a week wash with a cloth and flash bathroom or viakal is really good if you have a lot of build up.

Then squeegee off

TeamSleep · 19/10/2023 21:55

I use “the pink stuff” on mine. Works a treat. Then a glass/window cleaner to finish.

Coqueta · 19/10/2023 21:57

Method daily shower cleaner on a microfiber cloth..don't need to rinse

I'm a domestic cleaner - viakal every time. Leave on for a few minutes to work then use a scourer

Twimum23 · 19/10/2023 22:07

Kilrock or viakal both work perfect kilrock is a bit stronger tho then use pink stuff glass cleaner 👍

milkydress · 20/10/2023 00:25

Vinegar. But it stinks for hours afterwards

ichundich · 20/10/2023 00:30

Dry the shower with a squegee and a window cloth after each use. Before cleaning, spray with white vinegar and leave to soak for around 15 minutes before cleaning with soap, rinse off and then dry it. That's why I much prefer baths 🛁.

measurebbay · 20/10/2023 00:32

Washing up liquid.

Theoldwoman · 20/10/2023 01:01

I regularly steam clean mine. Perfect.

embolass · 20/10/2023 06:41

RaraRachael I apply it neat to either a wet cloth or one of those pad things. Shake on some vinegar if you have it. No need for stronger sprays on a screen.

stayathomer · 20/10/2023 06:43

Is white vinegar the clear vinegar you get in the food aisle or is it something else? Sorry everyone, just all we have is that brown stuff for chips!

Baconking · 20/10/2023 06:51

Yes, the clear vinegar

stayathomer · 20/10/2023 06:52

Baconking

Thanks a million!!

Once you’ve scrubbed off any limescale, use a squeegee to avoid streaks. Then after every shower run over it again. It takes two seconds.

RaraRachael · 20/10/2023 12:47

Thanks all. I've tried Viakal in the past and it did a good, but not great job.

This morning I put some Fairly Liquid with a little bit of white vinegar on, left it for 5 minutes, squeegeed it off and it's done a really good job. Best it's ever been 😄

I live in a very hard water area so after every shower, I use Method's Daily Shower spray and a few mins later, squeegee it off with an Oxo squeegee. Looks immaculate and takes literally seconds.

Nancy Birthwhistle recipe called Nancy's Toilet Magic was a shower screen game changer for me. It's a mixture of citric acid, washing up liquid and tea tree oil.

HappiestSleeping · 27/10/2023 22:49

White spirit vinegar from amazon (about £6 for at least 5 litres, maybe 10), and isopropyl alcohol also amazon too although its a little more expensive. Put 200ml of vinegar, and 50ml of IPA into a spray bottle and then top up to 500ml or so with water. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil or lemon juice and use this on all your surfaces, especially kitchen and bathroom. It will cut through limescale and grease with ease leaving your surfaces sparkly and smelling nice. You can get a foaming spray bottle from a car detailing supplies shop for under £10 and they're excellent as they pump up and foam when they spray which saves product. Or just use a standard trigger spray bottle.

Use the above with a magic sponge on the shower screen and it will come up a treat. You'll have sufficient ingredients for about 5 years of cleaning too. I use this on everything. Taps, oven, tiles, hob, kitchen floor, you name it.
