yes me and dh both spend about 1-2 hours each a week cleaning we normally split, i clean the bathrooms dh the kitchen, then the next week we swop areas to vary it a bit.then dh hoovers and i dust and tidy.

of course we do day to day cleaning like wipingthe worktops down everyday.

this doesnt seem much are we slacking?

I do about 2 hours a day at least, I do a big clean once a week e.g windows etc

Gameboy · 07/03/2008 16:43

I am completely sold on a comment I saw someone make on another thread about cleaning, which was along the lines of "I find people with slightly messy houses have much more interesting lives..."

DH & I have VERY interesting lives. Why on earth would anyone spend 2 hours a day cleaning??? (sorry pedilia)

OK, if that includes laundry...

Carmenere · 07/03/2008 16:48

I do about an hour each day maintaining the good work the cleaner does in her three hours once a week.
I would say our house is quite messy but generally clean.

pedilia · 07/03/2008 16:48

No probs gameboy- I have 3 DC's (number 4 on the way) a dog and 2 cats, I just like my house clean & tidy so don't mind doing it. If I left it, I would be living in complete chaos and it would drive me insane!

sparkybabe · 07/03/2008 16:50

Laundry doesn't count - the machine does it. I do less now that I've found MN but still do about 1 hour per day. That's ony hoovering/dusting/cleaning toilets (we've got 4, and 3 boys) but I have to keep on top of it.

True Kerry but sorting and loading doesn't take long and I can't hang it out in the rain anyway.

Hows the foot BTW?

milkgoddess · 07/03/2008 20:31

oh i wasn't countong washing as i just do that as i go, it doesn't really seem like that much of a chore to me

maybe im just not adding it all up enough?

Not including laundry or washing up, yep, about 2 hours a week, split between us. Flat isn't sparkling but acceptable, I'd say ? though I wouldn't look behind the cooker!

Mind you, I grew up in a house where even less cleaning was done - I'm the tidy one in our family. And yes, we all have very interesting lives.

somersetmum · 07/03/2008 20:36

2 hours a week for two = 4 hours! Sounds about right to me.

dosydot · 07/03/2008 20:43

about 2 hours a day, 2 preschoolers make one hell of a mess esp. when mum is boardering ocd

milkgoddess · 07/03/2008 21:12

oh phew! yeah i wasn't counting everything like loading up the dwisher and tiding,
