Flour mites….

Hi, I know there are several threads about this but I noticed a recent one from the other day which I can’t find now.Having found mites in my larder and a kitchen cupboard I wondered if the wet warm weather we’ve had has exacerbated the problem? I’ve hoped flour mites in flour before but, to my knowledge, they haven’t before spread to everything else! I’ve wiped the shelves down with vinegar and peppermint, put bay leaves everywhere but they’re still around. I’ve realised they’re inside cardboard boxes as well. I’ve always kept most things in containers although they’re not all airtight. I’m imagining them everywhere now!

I think it’s the damp more than the temperature based on previous experience. I knew a lady who just resolutely sieved them out of flour and sugar and carried on… and I know, thinking of rationally, that I must have eaten some in the past and survived(!) but I understand that stressed feeling that they’re everywhere. cleaning down the shelves as you come to the end of your current supplies, and putting new dry goods into airtight containers, should sort you out.
