that actually works please?

It's cream coloured - dark cream - so I can't use bleach and hesitant about commercial mildew removers for same reason.

I've googled of course and tried
sponge brushing
white vinegar and then rubbing with toothbrush and bicarb of soda
fairy liquid soap suds
swift dunk into laundry delicates detergent and a dunking rinse.

Nothing has worked.

Anyone?

If nothing has worked I don't think you have anything to lose by using some bleach on a damp cloth.

in case anyone has the same problem, I made a "paste' of biotex and painted it on, left it overnight and sprayed it again with water to keep it damp.

In the morning it was still there but fading so inspired by @RampantIvy s suggestion of bleach I sprayed it all over with vanish spray which is low level bleaching agent and left it for a few hours.

dunked it in water a few times to rinse it all off and left it to dry in the sun.

after all that the mildew brown spots were gone. No idea which of those worked or if it was a combination but it was like a new lampshade

Thank you for the update. I'm glad you have found a solution. Is the house too damp?
