What to do with children's school work & fiction books

So I have 3 children , lots of school works come home every year and it breaks my heart to throw it. What do people do with their children's school work.

Also story books. I have given so many to charity shops but I am sentimentally attached to so many. How do people store them or should I just box them up?

I put the school, work in the bin. Books sent to charity. I keep a very very few select things.

I let my children decide what to do with it. Normally a with a limit eg you can keep your top 10 things from that year. Every now and again we go through what they've kept and whittle it down further. They loose attachment to things as they get older. Kept in a box in their cupboard. I tell them they will be taking it with them when they move out, so only to keep what they want to live with.

I keep school work that is stories, especially the primary age "write about what you did at the weekend" etc. but not things like maths worksheets. I keep lots of books but not all. Only the ones I remember later.

Keep photos of schoolwork or art if you lack space
