For the past 15 years or so we've always bought Miele appliances and generally they've lasted well, much better than other brands. However, we replaced our Siemens dishwasher, which had lasted 10 years, with a Miele just under 5 years ago.
It has suddenly stopped working. We get an F78 error. Following various posts of online advice we have filled the filter area with warm water and rinse aid and managed to get it going a couple of times over the past couple of weeks, only for it to stop working again. We then bought a new non return valve, also from advice online, but that hasn't made a difference.
It's quite frustrating, we've all been ill with Covid over the past couple of weeks and have been struggling with trying to manage everything. Having no functioning dishwasher has not helped.
Is it worth paying an engineer to come out who might not even be able to fix it, or who might do the same as us, only for it to break again? Or should we just buy a new one?
The cheapest new Miele ones are now over £700, everything has gone up so much! Or does anyone recommend another brand? DH thinks we should just bite the bullet and buy a new one. I don't want to pay over £700 if it's only going to last 5 years. Advice please.
