Cleaning air fryer

This is embarrassing, but…. I have a Ninja air fryer that I’ve neglected. We haven’t been washing it after use and it now has baked on grease. How do I clean it without damaging the nonstick surface?

Bump. I need to know this too 😳

I do t know but once it's clean you can buy silicon liners or I use a piece of foil in the bottom for really greasy things.

Remove basket and put hot water and dishwasher tablet in it ...leave the grill base in it too.
After an hour or so you'll have a slurry of gunk but then just wash as normal.

Ours go in the dishwasher after ever use. Much easier than getting a build up clean.

Dropthedonkey · 29/08/2023 02:18

I buy paper liners for mine. Couldn't get the grease off the first one we had at all, needed a larger one anyway really and have always used the liners with this one so it stays clean

FictionalCharacter · 29/08/2023 02:36

Thanks everyone. Will try the dishwasher tablet trick. I’ve bought some liners.
@usernother I thought only the crisper plate could go in the dishwasher, not the main bowl?

Get some elbow grease spray! Works a treat for the air fryer. You just spray it on and wipe it off with kitchen roll.

Thank you! I’ve never heard of that stuff, sounds good.

i just had the same thing; the elbow grease spray sort of worked. I let it soak in hot water and fairy liquid, then got a toothbrush and scrubbed and scrubbed. This got rid of some of it. Then tried the elbow grease and left it for 10 minutes, scrubbed again with the toothbrush which helped a bit but there was still stuff left on. Then I tried some pink stuff (in the tub) on the toothbrush and scrubbed again and it’s probably 90% gone now and I’m using silicone liners because the whole thing took me about an hour of scrubbing and I am NOT doing that again.

so a mixture of things worked for me.

@peachescariad A hot soak with a dishwasher tablet did the trick, thanks so much.
Thanks to everyone else with the other suggestions.

We have a ninja dual and the whole baskets and trays can go in the dishwasher. Thank goodness.

LadyEloise1 · 01/09/2023 10:23

I have the Ninja Dual too and use silicone baskets. They're great.

Careful with paper liners. I could smell smoke. Opened drawer and it had burnt some it

Dropthedonkey · 01/09/2023 11:04

Yes you have to weight down a paper liner correctly (with the food spread out on it) and never leave one in the fryer when it's turned off (in case someone turns it on with the paper in it.)
