Carpet/spot cleaner

I'm in desperate need!
Was looking at the Vax and Bissell spot cleaners, reading reviews and a good few say they are extremely loud in use.

I have a nervous dachshund so wondering if anyone has one, how loud is loud? Also looking for one with a wide ish nozzle..... .

Any recommendations?

I have the vax spotwash and don't think it's very good! It's hard work to use and doesn't seem to soak much of the liquid up. Back to dr beckmans for me!

That's what I use usually, but need to do two large rugs!

I have the bissell. It's worked wonders on my upholstery on a variety of stains I'd given up on (the usual red wine, coffee, dog related stuff but also fats/oils, soy sauce, and some mystery ones). Beyond individual stains, it also made everything look so new and much brighter; felt like a brand new sofa.

I actually paid for a sofa steam clean before buying the bissell - steam clean didn't touch the sides but it looked perfect after the bissell.

However, I had to figure out the right concoction first (basically double the recommended amount of oxygen boost), and technique (press down hard, really scrub, and go over each part repeatedly - it might plug in but it's still a workout)! The tank also doesn't hold a whole lot which could be a bit annoying if your rugs are large; if they're on the smaller side ignore this. Maybe there's an easier way and/or this is not recommended but I find this is what has worked for me.

It hasn't been that great on my carpets BUT those were probably beyond saving anyway... they are BAD! not sure if it might have something to do with different material/tougher dirt from shoes and more dog soiling?

The noise is quite loud and annoying - my dog doesn't love it and she's generally good with these things. I'd say you can do a 1'm2 area in a few minutes though, and that's if you're really working it rather than just a routine clean.

We have the bissell spot cleaner and it's great. Not too loud. Also have a Vax upright carpet cleaner which I wouldn't recommend as it leaves the carpet so wet.

Fantastic, have ordered the Bissell spot clean pro.
It's a lot cheaper in Currys than Amazon!
Sausages will have to sit in the other room with a dog chew!

I got the vax spot cleaner and just don’t see the point of the mini handheld ones: by the time you’ve faffed around to set it up, vanish carpet spray and a micro fibre cloth would have finished the job! I dont imagine you’ll easily be able to clean a whole rug with the hand held ones either.

Good choice, I use ours all the time and unlike pp I don't find it a faff at all? Just plug in and go...! Just try not to be sick after you've done your sofas!
