Hi, we’ve had the very disgusting issue of cockroaches to deal with. We live in the US in a major city (but from U.K.!)
We chose a high rise type ‘luxury’ building and pay extortionate rent. The common areas are kept very clean, and my place is kept spotless (I have a severe contamination and germ phobia).
I found the first one 2 months ago, right by the front door. Alerted the building management and they sent out an exterminator. In the last 3 weeks I have seen 4 more, including one in my handbag!
Ive had the exterminator out again during that time. Last night was my final straw when I found cockroach droppings in our cutlery drawer. I couldn’t believe it.
I put a message on our building chat asking if anyone else was having issues and several people said they were. And guess what - they were all my direct neighbours.
it transpired that one apartment in particular was the culprit and had been dealing with an infestation since at least December last year. They have since moved out but left the place in a disgusting state. By Jan they had spread to other apartments. We moved in Feb and no one told us beforehand that there was an issue.
what can I reasonably do other than have the exterminator come regularly and continue to keep everything clean?
