Washing machine clean

Is there such a thing as someone will come and give your washing machine a deep clean? A bit like you do with an oven? We keep getting little black bits on the white washing. I've cleaned the tray and wiped round the rim so I think I need to get someone in! I

Have you run a hot wash and cleaned out the filter? Have you cleaned the roof of the bit the drawer fits into?

Do you use powder or liquid?

@dementedpixie I ran a hot wash with those dr Beckmann sachet things. I use the tablets. I'll have a look at the roof bit of the drawer, didn't think of that! I saw somewhere recently.. maybe mrs hinch? Cleaned her washing machine and there was a drawer at the front of the machine at the bottom that she took out and cleaned but mine doesn't have one of those!

On my old machine there was a plastic strip along the bottom of the machine that you could unclip to access the filter. What kind of machine is it?
