Are my jeans doomed? Bubblegum incident!

They've been in the freezer overnight already to no avail. Blimmin stuff still sticky. Never allow well-meaning relatives to buy your children 'Hubbabubba'! At least regular gum goes hard in the freezer - this stuff doesn't. Any ideas knowledgeable mners? They're the only half decent jeans I own!!

was going to say freezer!
have you tried ice cubes in a plastic bag then chip it off, seems to work better than freezing

sticky stuff remover, ...yes it really is called that.

Robert dyas sell it.

EffiePerine · 28/02/2008 00:25

Acetone works as well

WendyWeber · 28/02/2008 00:32

Lighter fluid (that petrol stuff that goes in old-fashioned lighters)

It works on chewing gum so I suppose it will work on bubblegum too...and once the sticky stuff has gone it evaporates quite nicely, then you can sling them in the machine.

Have only just got back to this now. Thanks everyone - I won't bin 'em yet then! Will give these ideas a try.

nair varnish remover

Blandmum · 28/02/2008 23:23

But not if the jeans have synthetic material bits (where the bubble gum is) or you will melt it!

Friend coming tomorrow who does Betterware and they have sticky stuff remover. Fingers crossed for a jeans rescue!

Olive oil.

Mum swore by it for our school uniforms

Aero · 04/03/2008 23:38

Wouldn't it leave a greasy stain though RT? I'd gladly try it if not - save me a fiver!
