Cleaning exterior of house

How much do you bother with cleaning the outside of your house? I’m thinking about exterior walls, windowsills, areas around the doors which get covered in cobwebs, etc, and how do you clean them? Our walls are rendered so probably not suitable for pressure washing, so now I’m wondering if I should be outside on a regular basis brushing them down or if that’s just a bit excessive? Thank you!

I blast our brickwork, windowsills/doorframes and guttering every few months or so with the hose pipe to clear away cobwebs and twice a year I bleach and jet wash the patio to get rid of the mossy green tinge. I also sweep the patio every couple of weeks to avoid leaves clogging the drains.

I don’t tend to think of it as cleaning but more of preparation for the summer & winter when I’m either cleaning the garden ready for the summer or tidying it up for the winter

Bloody hell! Never!
Even if I was totally bored and scratching around for things to do, I feel my time would be better spent picking fluff out of my belly button.

Our house is rendered and white and we had 'softwashing' done which worked a treat! The white render was covered in algae and mould and the softwashing chemical treatment took it all away. We need to do it every 3 years or so

Is that a thing, the rendering going mouldy ?

Yes - this sort of thing. It's algae I believe

😆Fair enough, I can totally see your reasoning!

Nice! Would you mind saying how much that cost and which part of the UK you live ( vague north/south/south east is fine)?

PickledWilly · 09/08/2023 11:01

South east cost £75!

South east cost £75!

Bargain! It looks fab since it's been cleaned up. My house is rendered at the top but it's never had algae, maybe the northern air keeps it at bay 🤷‍♀️
