Spring clean, autumn clean or both?

I usually feel more inspired to do an autumn deep clean to get ready for the winter months than a spring clean (although I always do a deep after Xmas clean). This is partly due to harvest season throwing up a lot of dust so it's nice to get windows and things done after this.

It just made me wonder if others had a natural preference and why.

Anyone?

I do both. A spring and autumn deep clean where I pull out the furniture and do behind it, wash/air out duvets, rugs, blankets. Get the stepladders out for all those hard to reach/see places. Replace lightbulbs that I've not bothered with through summer. It's also a good opportunity to check for damp or infestation problems and deal with them. I see it more like house maintenance rather than cleaning.

There's something very very satisfying about sitting down at the end of a "deep clean" weekend when everything smells all fresh and clean and aired through.

I do neither. I pick a bit of cleaning to do every day, spend no more than half an hour on it. That way I never have to lose a whole day or weekend to cleaning.
