ds has tripp trapp but need to put reins on. I bought the tripp trapp ones (£20!!) but took them back as you cant put the clips on the chair aswell as have the cusion on it. Someone did tell me a while ago you can use normal reins?? Can someone please tell me how i can use my bog standard mothercare reins on it?

clip them on to the d rings at the back if you have them. (came with our chair and we don't have the tripp trapp reigns)

our tripp trapp reins clip to the d rings even with the cushion on.

Does it have the little black D rings to fix them onto? Ours are attached to a bit of black webbing. We don't have a cushion though.

i dont have any type of rings anywhere. Just all the wooden bits... where do they go??

The webbing bit is squeezed into where the ends of the lower back support fits the sides of the frame. If you had a baby set, they should have come with it?

oh you mean like the little back bit? Yes came with it but dont have it on as ds too big.. will look in the loft!

So how do these bits fit to the chair?

don't the basic mothercare reins come with tether straps (short bits of webbing that end in a d-ring)?

if so you put the tether straps round the uprights on each side of the highchair and shove the d-ring end through the loop.

then put ds in the harness and clip to the d-rings

sorry if im being thick but what are the 'uprights'? Are these the bits im missing at the moment? That may be with the baby seat bit?

no, I just meant the vertical-ish parts of the chair, ie the bits that are neither seat, footrest nor backrest

just thought id add, went to shop i got it from today and basically mine doesnt have these D ring bits as that is the old shape. Doesnt say anywhere that it has changed but it has. New one has plastic annoying clip things!

This is how we tried it (not with baby set, just basic TT chair)

Using basic mothercare reins - mine came with two extra short straps, loop on one end and clip on the other. Loop round each main upright of chair, pass clip through. Then attach clips to reins , such that reins will clip together at front (like a front fastening bra IYSWIM). HTH, it did work for us.
