I have had an idea - crazy or fun?

At some point this year we want to redecorate most of the house and for DS2's room I am thinking of a different colour on each wall. He is currently 2.

Fun. But tricky to get the joins right...

southeastastra · 27/02/2008 16:38

i did my sons room like this. don't know what i was thinking at the time but i did red and yellow. the joins were hard to get straight so you'd need a steady hand or make sure masking tape is dead straight.

didn't last long, we got sick of looking at it .

I would say one bold colour on one wall and a lighter colour on the other three. Think four different colours wouldn't work.

It used to have Thomas Tank scenes on it that we painted by hand then DH painted over it all in blue! Feel like it woul dbe fun but I would do each wall a different colour.

Blue
Red

DS1 has bright blue and green alternating. On the joins we did an OTT wobbly line - on purpose! 'Wobbly' is the wrong word, it is more like a meandering river, sort of....! It looks quite good even if I do say so myself!

DS2 has blue and yellow on alternate walls with straight joins, the joins are a bugger to get right, but worth it

here blue white blue white blue white

If you deffo want 4 colours, but don't want it OTT, why not do e.g. Dark blue, lighter blue, even more lighter blue, ending in light blue, or something?

I think you run the risk of over doing it.

NatalieJane · 27/02/2008 16:52

Tut, meant to say, I think you might run the risk of over doing it.

Custardo - just saw a football team crest.

It is a big room so I did think I could get away with 4 colours. Not sure why but not keen on 2.

go for it. you can download a colour creator (cannot quite remember what its called) from the 2 big paint manufacturers. you can upload a photo of the room and change to colours of the walls so you get a feel for what works.

JingleyJen · 27/02/2008 20:59

in DS1's room we have bright yellow walls, but emerald green, electric blue, pillar box red box shelving in different sizes at various heights around the room, perhaps a compromise on your bold colour for each wall?

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 28/02/2008 12:08

That sounds a great idea, lihaze.

Will get DH to take a pic of the room and upload it for me. Thanks.
