I have a set of placemats similar to these, in a leather look PVC

Although they say that the clean by wiping with a damp cloth, in practice they look stained/possibly marked by fatty or oily spills they have had. Ive tried a few techniques to clean them (damp cloth with and without soap, kitchen degreaser spray, leather wipes), but am not 100% impressed with the results.
Anyone have any tips or genius hacks for getting these looking really clean? I quite like them and feel its a bit wasteful to get rid of them when they are functional.
