I want to be able to do one big shop and not have to go to the supermarket at all during the week...

I write a list out of all that I need, have a memo board etc etc but still find mid week that I'm stuck for ideas and end up popping into supermarket for something for dinner!

Foodbill is getting beyond a joke!

Help me please wise Mumsnetters!

Hmmm - the pitfalls of online shopping! My friend once ordered 250kg of cheese but Waitrose realised she meant 250g. But the delivery man had a good laugh on the doorstep: "Oh you're the one who ordered half a ton of cheese!"

Not going supplementary shopping at all would mean having a much bigger freezer than we do. We pop into the corner shop a couple of times a week for milk and things we've run out of.

I can't believe anyone can be bothered to go to a supermarket daily!

A weekly plan and shop is always my intention but I never get myself organised enough.
Yesterday I did have food at home - tins etc but had to nip to Asda for a couple of bits. £30 later - I had duck for tea!! I did it on the Lean Mean and man it was bloody marvellous!!
Hurrah for spontaneaty!!

yep you do need enough freezer space, I have an "american" fridge freezer - but no chest freezer so wouldn't have enough room for months' worth of freezable stuff. How about a small upright freezer from comet's sale?

I'm not actually a complete loon - sainsburys and waitrose are both a five minute walk away from me, so it gets incorporated into the daily constitutional, or is a half hour round trip, max. I'd never do it daily if we had to faff around with the car!

I meal plan and do a monthly internet shop. We only have three drawers in our freezer so it is doable, but I do want a small chest freezer so that I can freeze bread and milk and have icecream .
I have a weekly veg box too and then only let myself go to the local Co-op for milk and bread and fruit top ups. I still get treats as there are some amazing bargains at our co-op if things go out of date (smoked salmon for 50p etc)
I will link to my six week plan
