Smelly socks!

One of my offspring has developed the most disgustingly smelly feet. I think it’s a teen thing rather than a medical condition so looking for washing powder etc advice. My usual Persil non-bio doesn’t cut it. This is seriously rank!

Maybe add an antibacterial laundry cleanser to the wash? You get own brand e.g. Tesco own or Dettol brand etc.

They need leather shoes/trainers and socks. Only go with no socks in an open shoe like a Croc or they will stink. Going no socks in ordinary shoes will smell bad.

Oh yes, fully aware of shoes etc thanks and yes, shoes without socks is the worst. It’s laundry products where I’m wondering if anybody can recommend specifics?

White vinegar in the rinse (put it in the softener compartment in the detergent drawer) helps with stinky laundry.

I’d also try bio powder, I like the surf coconut one.

Shoe banana's! I rock climb so I'm no stranger to a smelly shoe - you just pop them in the shoe when not wearing to deodorise them.

whoops sorry for looooong link!😳 Ecozone also make a sports wash too, you can purchase it directly from them

unfairopinionmaybe · 29/07/2023 22:18

I'd give them some anti athletes foot type spray or cream just in case - if they're getting sweaty enough for stinky feet then it's a warm moist environment and perfect for that to thrive in

Perhaps consider if you can change the footwear to a more breathable material and fabric of the socks too

I used napisan (?) in the past on smelly things to destroy any nasty bacteria

Thanks for suggestions, have now stocked up on some of these!

The dettol antibacterial washing liquid is good.

I know you’re looking for washing powder, but I just thought I’d mention, are they actually washing their feet with water and a bar of soap? Sometimes people think letting soapy water from your body run down past your feet is ‘washing’.

I’m past the teenage years with my kids, and…..yeah. Just thought I’d mention it 😁.

Add Napisan to the wash.

Mmmm are you sure it’s nothing medical?

I wash socks every day so they don’t sit around festering, Aldi powder on cold. No smelliness here.
