We filled the previous thread quickly! I'm still in the middle of my annual leave and working through my old sentimental items so I need to keep the momentum going! It's taking ages.

I’m also trying to put something into the charity bag every day. I’ve definitely got a nice pile stacking up.

IndianSummer78 · 01/11/2023 14:03

Two newsletters recycled today. Total is 1563

Pigtailsandall · 01/11/2023 19:44

Few outs today... another dead plant which I finally took out (it's been dead for months) a toddler bowl I sold on Vinted for a grand sum of £2, a number 4 birthday candle and 2 birthday cards, a letter and a dried up marker.

Total's at 1809.

I'm starting the day with decluttering 3 catalogue recycled. Total is 1566

ememem84 · 02/11/2023 08:08

We’re going through a hurricane here. Force 12 winds.

the storm has decluttered a tree from my garden and some roof tiles.

Realfastfoodie · 02/11/2023 08:13

Oh goodness @ememem84!

Realfastfoodie · 02/11/2023 08:15

Well done @IndianSummer78. Forgive me for mentioning, but you seem to have a lot of catalogues and magazines, would it be worth you trying to find them all in one big batch to take to the recycling?

ememem84 · 02/11/2023 08:24

Realfastfoodie · 02/11/2023 08:13

Oh goodness @ememem84!

It’s crazy. Am in jersey - all coastal roads are shut as the tide is super high today anyway - so flooding. So many trees down. Utter devastation across the island. It’s crazy. The sheer power of the weather is amazing though.

waves are expected to reach 10m in the bay….

JewelleryCat · 02/11/2023 09:45

Do keep safe @ememem84

Pigtailsandall · 02/11/2023 10:31

Wow @ememem84 that's insane! I had a dream that a lake house I used to visit as a child got engulfed in a huge wave. I think the stormy rain penetrated my sleep.

Few more outs last night - shredded 3 sets of bank/insurance docs, recycled a huge box DH finally allowed me to get rid of, and out went an old work lanyard and an expired box of calpol plugin inserts.

I've also taken a monitor stand back to my office today. I really don't need it.

Total is 1816.

1 367 at the end of October, didn't quite make my goal of 1,400. Ever optimistic I'm hoping for 1,600 by end of November.

Have someone collecting a big bag of clothes on Marketplace, taken a bag of rags to the tip and got a load of old suits in the car for the women's work charity that needed to go to a dropoff point at the other end of town. All of these should take me to 1,500 . . .

Stay safe in the weather, I'm up north and it's incredibly wet here.

It's not that simple. The catalogues keep coming and it takes me so long to decide what to buy, if anything, that they becomes clutter which is why I count them when I finally get rid of them. The magazines I went through a phase of buying them all the time with no thought to what I already had. There's two huge piles to read my way through which is why they get decluttered one at a time. Everything is pretty tidy here and I know where everything is, I've just got too much of it 😁

LivingInaBuildingSite · 02/11/2023 19:24

Hope you’re ok @ememem84 i have friends in Jersey I must message them to see if they made it through ok.

The Grand Reveal is done!
DD is super happy, Ds2 surprisingly proud of himself for being helpful and keeping the secret for so long (he needed the long lead time to get used to the idea anyway but he was good about the secret keeping too).

DD has declared she is going to be a super organised person and move in tonight, we’ll see!

no Decluttering on my part happening as mid lots of work shifts. Another long one tomorrow then hopefully Saturday I can work with Dd to sort her room out.

IndianSummer78 · 02/11/2023 21:03

Finished a book about a toxic family and decided to declutter that. Total is 1567

Realfastfoodie · 02/11/2023 21:44

@IndianSummer78 👍

@LivingInaBuildingSite - amazing 🤩

heartbroken22 · 02/11/2023 23:25

I got rid of 3 bras, one scarf, 2 knickers. Doing small amounts but atleast it's progress. Might rest for a few days feeling like I have a cold coming.

Nordicmom · 04/11/2023 02:54

DH ended up getting quite a bit more than he was first estimated for his camera and lenses even though they were around 10 y old ! So it was definitely worth his while to get them out of the study cupboard since he didn’t need them anymore . He might next sell some of his dad’s big expensive lenses . I need to check the couple of Halloween decorations we had out since kids weren’t home , and DD costumes for any breakages and then pack them up to the attic . I need to do clean laundry folding again and maybe something can go from that . DD newish jeans are now looking short and she said earlier that they were tight from the waist so we’ll need to try the next size I have .shes slso got atleast 2/3 pairs of now too small shorts that I’ll have to dig out . She’s grown suddenly more recently so there’s several things inline to go soon I think . She’s kind of in between sizes . I’ve bought a bunch of things from a sale today to try on then I’ll put aside old ones . I’ve been feeling super tired all week I’m getting ill so feel like not much is getting done since we had to decide to move our trip to Christmas school holidays and then forget about weekend plans of going to MIL too since she’s now got Covid . Getting some admin and Christmas etc shopping done atleast and staying on top of the regular housework . The gardeners now next week because of the storm but the window cleaner came at least so that’s done . Am clearing out some of the old candy stash of kids . DS isn’t here but at uni and DD had enough on Halloween at her friend’s I’m sure .
Just a few bits out lately but I’ll try to continue in the weekend .

-2 broken dog toys
-a couple of DD too smelly toiletries
-1 DD finished book
-1 unwanted dog treat from a Halloween calendar
-1 unwanted toy from a Halloween calendar
-a bunch of old candy of the kids

Nordicmom · 04/11/2023 03:03

Also a too small one hand new hockey glove

renomeno · 04/11/2023 05:16

@Nordicmom where did your DH sell his camera equipment please? We've got a few bits of camera gear that I want to sell, I've seen an advert for an online system (like Ziffit I think) buy solely for camera stuff and wondered how good it is?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 04/11/2023 05:36

I was telling my other half yesterday that I just wish we had a house that I felt comfortable to invite people into without having to blitz clean it for 2 hours beforehand. Bless him he's done a load of cleaning and tidying up yesterday evening.

It does all come down to the clutter though, less clutter means easier to give things a clean.

Jellycatrabbit · 04/11/2023 08:36

Did some tactical post payday Friday Vinted listings and it all sold! DH says I priced it too low but I find it either sells straight away or itdoesnt sell at all so I'm happy. 3 big bundles of kids clothes out - 123 items in one go!

1,501 year to date.

Nordicmom · 04/11/2023 09:31

@renomeno I’ll have to ask him !

Nordicmom · 04/11/2023 13:16

Earmarking the PlayStation 4 for declutter from tv room I had kept for DD to use there while DS had his PS5 in his bedroom . He’s not here most of the time and allows her to play her games in his room on it and they work on it so it can go ! Another things away from gathering dust . Now will have to get DH to list it on Olio or something .

Toddler101 · 04/11/2023 13:41

Wow @Jellycatrabbit that is a lot to go all at once! Did you list it all individually or as one massive bundle of kids clothes? I've got 0-3 clothes, tonnes of it that need doing....

LivingInaBuildingSite · 04/11/2023 20:00

Tidied the Halloween stuff away, binned some old decorations and put aside one costume for the charity pile (I know they won’t want it now but not sure I can face storing it for a year either).

Nearly out:
got DH to go through the assorted toolbox. His first sweep was a paltry handful of random screws. Then I said no, we really do not need all those screwdrivers as we have a box set that covers every eventuality. He went back and agreed, so I have a pile to Freecycle.

Also, have a pile of dance costumes of DD’s that are too small, plus a competition outfit, wondering if I’ll try and sell them or just give away.

An old fave cardigan of mine has a hole, will check if it’s repairable before binning.

Actually out:

  • someone came and collected 2 minion cuddly toys DS2 didn’t want anymore.

DD is making a big pile of stuff to go, it’s a work in progress lol
